This recorder fingering chart is perfect for budding musicians learning to play their first melodies. Covering two approachable octaves, it provides clear fingering diagrams, helping children build confidence as they explore new notes and songs. Designed with young learners in mind, it offers just the right amount of information, making it easy for kids to practise independently, collaborate with friends, or follow along during lessons. Beautiful in bedrooms, music rooms, and classrooms, this chart is a helpful visual companion for curious minds and little hands discovering the joy of music.
Please note: This chart is simplified and beginner-friendly for a Soprano & Tenor Recorder with Baroque (English) fingering – commonly taught in primary school music programs. The standard Baroque alternatives may differ for some notes.
Story Behind the Print
I really wanted to learn how to play the flute but I had to wait until Grade 4 to learn a woodwind instrument, so I turned to learning the instrument I had: the recorder.
With no books, charts, or teachers to guide me, I taught myself to play “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King. I even taught my friends, and together we performed it for the music teacher who was genuinely impressed. I’d figured it out note by note, simply by listening and experimenting.
Years later, I bought my daughters a recorder for Christmas, and I think I surprised my husband’s family with my secret recorder skills. My girls weren’t that interested in learning at the time. When my eldest reached Year 4 and chose an instrument, she picked the flute. I gave her mine and taught her the basics. At first, she found it too heavy to hold for long, so she switched back to the recorder and started teaching herself melodies by ear. Watching her go through the same process I did, guessing notes and experimenting, I began searching for a fingering chart. But everything I found was either too simple or far too complicated. I wanted something easy to use, with just the two octaves kids actually play. So I made one. And she loved it.
Materials
Premium Giclée Fine Art Prints
Our prints are produced using the Giclée printing method, a high-quality fine art process that delivers rich colour depth and long-lasting vibrancy. They are printed on 200 gsm heavyweight archival paper with a lightly textured matte finish that complements our artwork beautifully.Sustainably Sourced Frames
Our frames are made from real, sustainably sourced timber, using a light natural wood (often pine or similar). Each frame has its own unique grain and tone, meaning subtle variations in colour and texture are part of its natural character. Over time, gentle changes due to ageing and light exposure can add character to your piece.- Framed images shown are for reference only. Please check the frame colour swatch for the most accurate representation.
- Instead of fragile glass, we use durable Perspex, making frames safer and easier to handle.
- Frames are reusable! Our prints are produced in standard A2, A3, A4 and A5 sizes, allowing you to swap artwork easily.
- Poster Hangers offer a flexible display option and make changing prints quick and easy. Please note: hangers cover approximately 1.5 cm at the top and bottom, making them best suited to borderless prints.
Colours and materials may vary slightly from what you see on your screen due to display differences.
To ensure authenticity and copyright protection, a small Brightkind logo is subtly placed in the bottom right corner of each print.
